Boy I can relate. Some recent stress in my life has caused me to relapse a bit and I have been fighting those paranoid thoughts myself. I have found that two things have really helped me a lot. One, to stop and think (honestly, that is the key) what the probability of my fear coming true actually is. Then, I think about
how I would cope if it came true. Because in the end, we would cope and manage. We are doing it now with the horrible anxiety, we can do it with anything else that comes our way. A book, Mastery of your Worry and Anxiety, has really helped me. That, SSRIs, therapy, and sedatives
.
We just need to find ways to interrupt that thought cycle.
