Allie,
This is an interesting question...and one that I can totally relate to.
I started off with panic disorder and health anxiety. Now that I have had success in dealing with these issues...I find myself feeling the way that you described.
I think of it as a kind of a 'non-acute' anxiety state. I am not panicking or worring about health, but I am definitely on edge.
I don't know how accurate of effective it is to label our anxiety in terms of GAD, OCD, health anxiety...ect. I know that those terms have a purpose early on in diagnosing and treating issues...but once you know what works for lowering your anxiety, then I think that this should be the focus.
In other words, once my panic disorder and health anxiety were better...I didn't go back for treatment of GAD. I now just use my coping skills when I am edgy, if that makes sense.;)
I hope that this isn't confusing you;p You did a good job of explaining your feelings, and I am trying to be more 'clear than mud'! Lol:)
Bottom line...if we keep up the good work in treating our anxiety, then we will continue to feel better.;)
