Hi LAOP and welcome.
I am sorry to hear of the anxiety and symptoms that you are experiencing at the moment. We do understand and sympathize.:(
It sounds as if you did not like the approach that your p-doc took with you, and that is completely okay. You have the right to be comfortable with your therapy.
However, I hope that this will not put you off of the idea of trying another method and psychiatrist/therapist!
You can certainly find help that is comfortable and effective! I usually recommend CBT because it is very helpful in treating the issues that you described in your post.
Also, if you would rather not touch on the subjects that made you feel uncomfortable, you can tell your therapist that you want to focus on the pro-active/work aspect of treating the health anxiety through worksheets and CBT related material such as thought/emotion journal logs, ect...
I benefitted from this form of therapy so much, I can't recommend it enough!:)
Keep posting with us as well. We will be here to listen and support, and that in and of itself it really theraputic.
Talk to you soon.
