pristiq 50.. still feeling anxiety at 5 weeks on meds

hi all..started pristiq 50 just on 5 weeks now still feeling anxiety heard it takes 6-8 weeks has anyone waited that long to see results??

Hi sweetcakes and welcome to the forum!

With SSRI's/SNRI's some people respond quickly, while others may take 8 or more weeks for the medication to build, level off and start to be fully effective in their system.

It can be very hard to wait for the benefits of your Rx when you just need relief today...but try to hang in there, as you have gotten this far...it should just be a bit longer for you to notice a change.

thanks scaredy cat..i really need that reassurance right now.. dont really want to try another med and have to deal with all those side effects again. im just hoping it will kick in soon you just see other people only be on it bout 4 weeks and get results gets so frustrating waiting for it to work

hey sweetcakes, i know Pristiq and Effexor are used for anxiety but i believe it is mainly when doctors want to stay away from benzos. just to let you know desvenlafexine keeps norepineprine/adrenaline in the interneuronal space and some may have a stimulant effect. i like the Tricyclics like Elavil or Doxepin with Ativan or Klonopin for attacks. reports of good results with pregabalin "Lyrica" have been showing up and FDA approve for GAD. fluvoxamine "Luvox" prop more geared at calming. it is a SSRI. Source Naturals has a supplement called Theanine Serene that folks like. MAG. chealate, GABA, L-Theanine, Taurine, Holy Basil extract, and Relora are ingridients

its now just gone 6 weeks feeling shaky inside and legs feel like jelly hoping it improves soon feeling reallty tired also only getting bout 5 hours sleep every nite

Hi sweet cakes;)

How are you feeling as far as the side effects and anxiety go? It can be hard to tell the difference between the two...

...so if have determined that you are still dealing with the side effects as 50mg, you probably do not want to double your dose.

If however you think that you are more feeling the symptoms of anxiety, then upping your med could be a good plan...but again, doubling the amount may be too much too soon.

Have you consulted with your prescribing doctor yet? What did he/she say?

Hopefully a member with experience with this med will chime in soon...and between what your doctor recommends and the advice here, you can make an informed decision

only side effect is the waking after 5 hours sleep im really thinking its the anxiety thats making me shaky and i do have mini panic attacks i feel like i just need that little bit extra to smooth it out if i go to the 100 how long till you know if that working?
