I am so sorry that this happened. That is really frustrating, and like you said costly in your time gas and mileage.
Before you write off your therapist completely however, I would suggest the following:
See what kind of response you get from your therapist. Her/his front desk help may have done this kind of thing before to other patients, and she/he may be in the process of finding a new employee.
Double check your side of the situation. Did you have this written on your calendar? (or input it phone/ipad) Sometimes I have been so sure of something, and then it turns out I was wrong.
I would hate to see you give up something that is going to help you, so once you have cooled down, try to get the full story and see what you then decide to do.
