All,
My doctor recently prescribed me a 10mg dosage of Paxil for generalized anxiety and occasional panic attacks. I've been taking the medication for almost 2 weeks now, and my anxiety has only increased. I understand that it takes up to 6 to 8 weeks for the benefits of the drug to take effect, but the side effects seemed to have been immediate. On a scale of 1 to 10, my "resting level" anxiety feels to have jumped from a 3 to a 7, and I feel as if I'm on the verge of an attack at any given moment. My body is extremely tense, most noticeably in my face, shoulders, and legs. I didn't feel nearly this bad when I first began taking the drug, I simply wanted some assistance in managing my panic. Unfortunately, the doctor who prescribed the medication is not available for another 4 weeks (6 weeks after I started the Paxil), though he asked that I have a check-up with him 2 weeks after I first began the medication. Has anyone else experienced similar symptoms? I'm trying to track down someone within my doctor's office I can talk to, but want to see if this is a common experience...
