Epidural and anxiety

Anyone ever have a problem with anxiety after getting an epidural?I do have anxiety issues which I have pretty much been able to manage. Recently I got an epidural for sciatic pain and I have noticed an increase in anxiety which I cannot manage, even with alprazolam. Anyone ever have this problem?

Miriam, there will be several Ladies on here to address your concerns, I know that I have had several for
different surgeries but I already had anxiety so I don't know what to tell you other than if you read as many
posts as you can you will find that normally something triggers our anxiety in case it was your epidural,
several of the Monitors are nurses so please hang on until they have a chance to answer your question.

Hi and welcome!

I am sorry to hear about the increase of anxiety as a result of your recent epidural.

I do recall hearing something about this, but do not know much about this issue.

Keep checking back, as someone else may have an experience to share.

You can also check in with the Chronic Pain forum, as some members there most likely can shed some light on this for you.

Doing a search here at HW is also a good idea. If you click on the search button, upper right and input key words (epidural, anxiety) you may find threads there that relate to your situation.
