What coping skills are you employing? If you practice relaxation and breathing exercises daily it should help to bring down your overall stress levels, thus reducing your symtoms.
At the time that the D/P D/R is happening, trying these two methods of relief should help:
*Positive Mantra
Using a reassuring statement while you are dealing with these feelings can help to keep you centered, present and work to elimiate the symptoms.
You may want to repeat something like this to yourself...
"This is just a symptom of my anxiety,it can't hurt me, nobody else notices it and the less I worry about it, the faster it will go away."
Or whatever phrase you find that gives you comfort.
*Being present and observing your surroundings and feelings
Observe your surroundings and take note of little details...what color are the walls? Observe the people, scenery, ect...this gets you in the present. now observe your state of mind without attaching any feelings to it. Are you feeling unreal? Okay, note it, but don't let it cause you to be fearful...just merely sit with the feeling. This will allow your mind to dissasociate the fear with the symptom....and the symptom will lose it power!
These techniques take practice, but they will start to work if you keep them up!
Peace and progress.:)
