A few victories...

I've had a few small victories, about which I am pretty excited.

My husband has helped me identify and tackle several things that keep me stressed. I'm excited about tackling those things, as well as some positive effects it's having (combined with my medicine beginning to build up, of course.)

1) We have this huge akita/chow/pyreneese mix dog that I'm terribly afraid of, which leads to two kinds of anxiety a) obviously, I'm afraid of him b) I feel guilty for neglecting him
(It's complicated, but let's leave it at getting rid of him isn't an option. We take care of him, but I'm very affectionate with our other animals and I feel bad because I think he gets less attention.)
Well, hubby has been working with me and the dog, and last night I sat on the ground and let him lay in my lap. He even gave me doggy kisses. Tonight, I'm going to try and give him a thorough brushing by myself (with hubby present).

2) Hubby has handled turning down several social engagements for me. This is something I've ALWAYS had to handle. That's two victories - it's progress for him and it spares me from people giving me guilt trips, which has allowed me to get some peaceful rest. (They accept no from him. I'm not planning on dumping it on him, this is temporary.)

3) I confronted my boss about one issue at work. He hasn't resolved it yet, but he didn't freak out and fire me like my mind always tells me he will.

This is my favorite one - my FACE almost looks like a FACE! :-D
The ever-present redness in my face (been present for YEARS) is beginning to subside. I think I actually have kind of pretty skin - if it continues to improve at this rate, I may not need a whole stick of concealer for date night. That's a HUGE victory for me - I didn't even realize it was because of anxiety. It's been so red it's purplish for years and years. It's so bad that I tend not to look in mirrors because it makes me sad. Yesterday, I was cleaning a mirror at work and was like "oh my gosh! my face!" My co-worker started laughing and said, "yeah, you're looking good. seeing a dermatologist?"

Looks like you are getting all your jacks back, good for you, you have so much going for you especially your
husband. Kinda makes everything worth the effort don't it? Sometime I wish you would send a picture of
anxieties darned ol hide nailed to the barn! Stay cool.

Well, Mr. Scary Dog is about five pounds lighter, gleaming from front shoulders to tail and smells like cinnamon. :) I didn't do his face because he didn't seem to like the comb (he was abused before he came here).

My left arm is probably well exfoliated following 45 minutes of doggie kisses. <3

I have spent the last two years getting up 3 or 4 times a night to make sure this dog was where he should be. For the last two years, I've been too afraid to go into the back yard alone. For the last two years, this dog's presence has rearranged my life and plagued me with guilt.

This is going to be such a big improvement in my life and the dog's life.

I did have a good laugh. I found a toy stash he's built beside a tree. I didn't realize just how many toys I've been buying him out of guilt for not playing with him. lol
(Again, my husband has been playing with him. He's not abused here.)

Great victory for you.  I used to be scared to death of Doberman's which my daughter raises.  I ended up with 2 Dobies at the same time and I now have 1 big male.......he is my best friend.

Dog Story:When my Wife was pregnant with our first girl we lived at a lake on a dead end street, I had
rescued a registered Weimaraner female about two years old her name was Lady, She Loved to rair up and
put her front paws on peoples shoulders, we noticed that she had quit jumping up on Carol one day. about a week later I took Carol to the Dr. and we found out She was one month pregnant. When Carol went anywhere at night or day Lady sat in the passengers seat like a person, looking in the back window it looked like two people. She never jumped on Carol again unless she was not holding the baby, the gas meter man was on vacation and a young guy subed, he ran up and jumped the fence, guess who was waiting on the other side, I had to buy a new pair of pants and a gas meter book for the boy, but the gas co. said he should not have jumped the fence. "all a long time ago when people did not sue each other" Peace.
