Hi There
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT. You can do it with a therapist or by yourself with some self-help books and a journal. If you are having problems with agoraphobia it's quite normal for anxiety sufferers to have some type of agoraphobia, but it sounds like yours is more pronounced. That being said if you can't get out of your house to a therapist then you can start working on CBT by yourself until you can shake off your anxiety to get out of the house to see someone professionally.
Also there's no problems with benzos, unless you've abused them before or taken more than your prescript
ion. Benzos will do the same thing for you as deep breathing and positive self-talk. Anxiety and panic attacks are basically a bunch of adrenaline blasted in your system at one time, it's not going to actually hurt you and there's only so much your body can make so that's why it doesn't last for hours.
Like you already said you were fine off your medications. I guess its an individual thing but I made a conscious choice not to be on medications so I could feel the whole spectrum of anxiety, I wanted to accept it and let it go on its own without having to battle it with pills every day.
My advice is to check the Resources section and do some research into CBT and get started on a CBT self-help book.
