Question about bloodwork?

We are not medical professionals, and therefore your best answer would come from your doctor...

...but to my understanding, your CBC would give your lipids breakdown...HDL/LDL cholesterol...triglycerides, ect.

This is indicative of cardio health and future risk factors.

However, to get a better understanding of the heart's function and structure...you would be looking to get an EKG and/or Echo cardiogram.

Again, your doctor could tell you if either of these tests is necessary for you at this time.

I hope this gives you some direction to go when talking to your medical health care provider.

I am going to post a couple of links for you but in no way are the tests mentioned on these sites the only lab work that will help determine if your heart is OK.

CBC is not specific to heart, it is a complete blood count; you need cardiac specific labs.  I  agree with SC,  we cannot provide you with the info your physician can but we can steer you toward sites that may help clarify ahead of time for you so you understand what your Dr. is talking about.

If your worrying if you have or are having a heart attack, the troponin blood test is still considered the gold standard for determining the presence of heart attack.
