I just need to vent to someone. I was prescribed a new medication today. Again. The 12th in just under a year. I have never just refilled a prescription. Ever. It's always a dosage change or a different medication. I'm so tired of this. I just want something to work. I don't know if I want to be angry, or just cry.

I know that this must be very frustrating.

If you are on your 12th med in under a year however...I am wondering if you are giving them enough time to really take effect.

It can take anywhere from 4 up to 12 weeks for an SSRI (I am just assuming this is the A/D med class that you are trying) to build up and level up in the body.

During this time, you can expect some side effects...and often little noticable results....but if it is possible to stick it out, then the benefits do usually happen.

I would urge you to talk with your doctor, or even ask for a referral to a psychiatrist to figure out your Rx options and best course of treatment.

I have a psychiatrist. She is great. I have been ordered off of 4 SSRIs after less than 2 weeks because they caused psychotic halucinations - really scared the boss. Benzos have no effect whatsoever. I was on the most recent med for almost 3 months. I take them as prescribed until told to stop. Psychiatrist is working with a psychiatric pharmocologist to try and figure out my med issues. I was prescribed a SNRI today.

I'm just frustrated with doing everything I have been told to do and still feeling crazy all the time.

Oh I am sorry...I didn't realize that you had such adverse reactions!  That is too bad.:(

It sounds like your P-doc is watching closely though...and that is good!  It also sounds like he/she is doing all that they can to help you get the right Rx.
