I don't think buspar is working for me. That's fairly disappointing, because it's been a life saver for my husband.

Anyway, when I go to get my labs done this week, I'm going to ask about being switched to something else for breakthrough anxiety/panic attacks. I'm okay with my daily Celexa. It's not helping a LOT, but it is helping some. I at least don't cry on it.

I've taken, Atarax I think was the name in the past. No goods. I took trazadone as a sleeping pill, but they said it would help overall too. No good, very bad for me, personally.

My doctor always asks if I have any ideas and we go from there. (I've taken LOTS of meds in my life and she trusts my judgement to a degree.)

Anyway, I'm just wondering what some of you take and how it works? Does it help you calm down quickly? and does it make you too sleepy to work? My job does require close concentration....

Thanks for any thoughts!

(P.S. I know y'all aren't doctors and this isn't true medical advice, haha)

My expectations of my Dr., if I was in your place, would be wanting to know what the Dr. feels is going on and what medication and treatment he/she feels would help me the best?

It does not really matter what I take as you are already on some of my meds and they are not working for you.  Each person will respond in their own unique way when taking medications and often it takes trial and error before you find the right med for you.

I also feel medication can help you but not all by itself.  You need a combination of meds with therapy.

Hi

You can see what medication I take on the bottom of my post I like you have been on many medications over the years but this is by far the best combination I have taken. As Kitt mentioned it is always good to see what the doctor suggests but really it should be a pdoc who is making the decisions.

Glad to see you fighting back! My Wife is one of those people who can't take a lot of different meds,
She is taking Stelazine (generic) / prozac generic / ativan generic / while I only take xanax if needed.
We went through hell trying to find something to help Her in the early years valium, trivell, and more I can't
remember. She is very normal with these meds and just uses ativan as needed, which is when I piss Her off.
We went through a lot getting to this point they have threatened to quit making stelazine. Peace

You can see my medications below as well, and I am back at this point because I was taken off my meds cold turkey when I was in the hospital at the end of April. Dumb Dr. Anyway, the medicines I am taking are all the same, with the exception of the Trazodone at night because my attacks were so bad, I was only sleeping like 2 hours at the most. The Effexor and Klonopin combo has worked great for me in the past and I am hoping that it works as well again...I just increased my Effexor a few days ago to 150 mg, so I know that it has to build up in my system. The 4 meds that I have been on since my anxiety reared its ugly head when I was 19 have included Paxil - worked great, Celexa, worked great, Cymbalta - hated it, and my Effexor.

Again, like Kitt said, everyone is different so what works for one, may not be the right medicine for another.
