Hi BR,
I am going to venture to say that you are not the first one to have gone through what you did. I say this not to minimalize it, but rather to say that you are not alone.
Therefore it is safe to say that many of these individuals did not seek, or could not get help to recover their past trauma(s).
The question that is begged is then, are all of these people living their lives as non functioning without the help of modern psychotherapy? I don't believe that to be the case.
Again, I am not minimalizing anyone's experiences, I am just saying that going back and 'digging in the dirt' is not for everyone.
At some point, like I mentioned before, you may be able to do this. Even if working with your therapist one on one is daunting...you may choose seek a group of peers (in person or on-line) who share similar hurts.
For now however, you are in control of what you want, and don't want to work on in your therapy. If you just need to learn some coping skills, work on the OCD and lessen your anxiety overall...then you tell your therapist exactly that today.:)
You are the boss!
