Can't Cope

So I've posted multiple times about my fear of vomit/vomiting. So about 3 weeks ago my husband and my 8 yr old son got the stomach bug and lasted them a week. I constantly cleaned to make sure nobody else got it. So for me when people get sick I stop eating so if I get sick there won't be much in there. So I was barely eating anything. A few bites here and there. Mostly crackers. So then we went to a birthday party last Thursday and the next morning my 2 yr old woke up and threw up all over my bed. So I freaked out and continued to not eat. So I thought I was in the clear but the other night my 8 yr old started vomiting again and had some diarreah yesterday. So here I am still not eating. I don't feel well and I feel like I'm going insane with the kids getting sick. I got in bed last night and got some kind of mystery substance on my mouth. So now I'm scared about that. The only thing I didnt clean yesterday was my bedding. My son threw up in a bucket. But I keep thinking now that it somehow got on my bed and I just ingested it. So now I'm even more scared.

To top things off I'm worried because we have reserved a cabin for 4 days and I'm terrified to go because I'm scared as soon as we get there someone is gonna get sick and bathrooms are far away and up hill from where we'll be. I'm traumatized. I'm scared. I don't know what to do anymore. This is a nightmare.

And I know about the trip. We came across this place by accident one time and loved it there. I'm at a loss for words myself. I'm on medication that's suppose to help and I'm at the maximum dosage but it isn't helping. I've been through therapy and it didnt help. I try to talk to my dad and husband but they don't understand and complain about me to each other. I feel alone. I wish I didn't have this. I wish it would go away.

Hi, OMG, you could be my twin! I have the exact same HORRID fear of stomach bugs, and have very severe OCD because of that fear. I have been like this for many years as my kids (now grown) were hospitalized a total of 11 times with dehydration even though I did everything the Dr. told me while they were ill. I even had to call the ambulance and watch my youngest son (then 3) being carried away on a stretcher because he was so severely sick even though we had been to the doctor the day before. When I called 911 they instructed me on how to do CPR in case he went into cardiac arrest since he was so horribly dehydrated. I had been doing the Pedialyte, etc., etc., for days, but nothing helped.

It has now been 14 years since this all started, and I CANNOT get over it. I am seeing a therapist, and taking Lexapro, but so far, NO relief. My youngest is now 17, and I am still in a panic each and every day...no joke.

I thought I was all alone in this fear.

I am so sorry...this does sound like a nightmare situation. You must be absolutely exhausted from worry, fear, cleaning and lack of food!

I have to encourage you to eat! You must keep your resistance and energy up. I hate to say it, but even if you don't eat, and end up with the virus/bacteria...an empty stomach will not help you. You will just end up dry heaving, and feel just as bad.

However, if you eat, your body and mind have more immunity against both illness and anxiety!

Have you called the doctor about this? I am just wondering if there is not something more going on since this is affecting members of your family more than once? It is either a new virus, or something else that is making your kids sick.  A possible food issue maybe? Because from what I know, once you have had a particular virus, you should be immune to contracting it again. Do they have the full spectrum of stomach 'flu' issues...fever, body aches, ect?  Because in the abscence of these things, it could be a food borne illness. (although sometimes there is fever present with food poisioning)

In any case, I think that it is reasonable to have second thoughts about your trip if it is coming up soon. I think that your household should be healthy for at least a week before you plan to set off...that is just smart planning...not phobic.:)

I sincerely hope that you and your kids stay and get healthy very soon! Try not to anticipate getting sick...if you haven't by now, you most likely won't.

I haven't taken them to the doctor because I figured a virus and there's nothing to do for them. My son actually didnt go anywhere so that's why I'm not sure if it was a virus. I did go through my fridge and threw all my food away just in case. I am very worried about our trip but my husband is set on going so we are. I'm terrified to go but no choice plus we really have no idea if my husband will have much time off again. I'm trying my hardest to keep things clean and I pump myself up with probiotics and grape juice. My husband made me eat tonight so I'm really bloated and miserable from not eating in so long.

Thank you guys. It's nice to have people to talk to and kinda understand. I hate feeling alone.

Thanks again. I hope I have service. I'll go nuts if I don't. It's wierd how about 5 years ago I really had no need for Internet and a smart phone. But now that I have one I feel like I'm missing a part of me if I don't have it. I'm trying to stay calm. I wish I had a week between illness and trip. But I don't. That's what makes me nervous.
