I have had this happen to me on several occasions, mostly in the left side, but twice it was both sides at the same time, up my neck into my head, and down BOTH arms. And twice I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack or a stroke, and low and behold, a mg of Ativan through IV, blood tests, and EKG, and I was on my way home with a diagnosis of a panic attack! Who woulda "thunk" it! LOL!
It is VERY scary when that happens! I had all sorts of heart tests done just last year. Cardiac enzyme blood work, ekg, holtor monitor, and an echo cardiogram done, and everything came out fine. The guy that did my echo said that I have the healthiest heart he's ever seen, and that I have the heart of an athlete! I was like "well, I don't exercise much (I get exercise induced anxiety), so it must be the anxiety and panic attacks giving my heart a workout" LOL!
All they found was Sinus Tachycardia, which is caused by the anxiety & panic attacks. He said I could take a beta blocker if I wanted to when I got the palpitations, but I refused and told him I would rather not take a heart med if there was nothing wrong with my heart, if I can control it with a xanax. Why take something for a non existent problem?
I don't like taking meds anyway, but have resigned myself to the fact that I need them to help me with all of these mental issues. I'm not going to add another one if I don't have to. LOL!
The tingling and numbness you get are probably caused by hyperventilating. That's what they told me was happening to me, but then again, I get tingling anyway from my Fibromyalgia. So I never know which ailment is causing half this crap! ;)
You'll be fine, and if it happens again you'll know what it's from, and what to do. Just make sure you're breathing right.
Hope you're feeling better now!
