I finally made my surgery date for carpal tunnel but tonight i'm having bad pain spasms on the top of my forearm.  if anyone has had this and experienced this, let me know please.  I've had this sensation before but this time it's bad.  took aleve not helping at all.  typed a lot at work today

pain gives me anxiety.  ughh

I'm so sorry! I have had carpal tunnel issues, but never to the extreme of necessitating surgery. I can't imagine how much you're hurting - I know mine hurts pretty bleepin' bad on heavy typing days.

I don't know if any of this will help you, and you've probably already tried it all, but here's what has helped me in the past, for temporary relief -

A really good, supportive wrist/arm brace with the metal support in it. Finding one that fit right made a difference (I have six, haha).

When the pain extends up my arm from my wrist, I sometimes get my hubby to tie a sling for me with a piece of fabric. It looks/feels silly, but just taking all of the weight off my arm seems to help.

I sometimes also wrap the part above the brace with an ace bandage. It's tempting to wrap it too tight, because it feels better, but that causes more harm than good.

Soaking in a tub of epsom salts seems to help mine too, but I really enjoy a soaking bath so that may be mostly mental. ;)

I have Carpal Tunnel also, and the other day I was trying to clean up the dog "stuff" in the yard by holding a plastic bag in one hand, and a big shovel in the other. Well, the weight of the shovel was too much for just one hand, but I did it anyway, and now my forearm has been sore for two days.

Yes, it happens, and no, Ibuprofen doesn't help. It's probably because of all the typing you were doing. I also have braces for both of my wrists. Yep, both of em! Yay me! LOL!

You'll be fine, just try to go easy with the typing if you can.

And, if you can't avoid the amount of typing you have to do, using an easier pace seems to help me - sometimes it just isn't worth typing at top speed.
