Any Older Adults on this Board?

I am feeling "wired inside"...I guess you can call it very anxious...I am into natural alternatives in supplements or anything else....When you are out of work and no social life, you feel very "alone"...I lost my mother and besides having a very small family left that I am for the most part estranged from the world gets to be a scary place....I have gerd and when I get anxious at times my "ches" tightens up and scares the heck out of me because it gets painful...If I take Gas X it breaks up the feeling so far, but I hate the feeling and it causes me more anxiety...Lately I had been getting an undercurrent hissing in my ears and when I am distracted, it goes away....My allergies have brought on nosebleeds every couple of weeks which also freaked me out...When one symptom goes another seems to replace it....

Hello Friends,

I am 67 and I refuse to feel old -  I love to hangout with my Granddaughters and yes they may laugh at my granny panties but they would laugh harder if they saw me a bikini undies.  I keep up on pop music but favor country music which my children and grandchildren now listen to.

All of my extended family has died so my immediate family is my heart.  I have lost 2 sisters and a brother within 17 months of each other a few years back.  Lost my Father when I was 39 and my birth mother to a car crash when I was 22 months old. No Aunts or Uncles................

The greatest loss of all was the death of our 21 year old son to a car accident in 1990 but I refuse to lay down and give up.  Instead, I join groups that are helping others.  I belong to Chemo Angels and support patients on chemo by sending cards anonymously as that is what we do.

I help others on here as much as I can but most of all I believe in me and that I have a lot to offer as a person.

I would encourage anyone joining this forum to check out the resources as you will find lots of info especially the CBT online course that you can work free from home on your computer.

I do know where you are coming from and what you are going through so keep on posting here in the forum and you will meet some really nice folks.

Have you considered trying to find ways to expand your social circle by celebrating your age?

I was a "lavender" member of the Red Hat Society at one time. It's really, really cool - if you're part of the target age. I'm waiting to return when I can reach 50 go through my "redination." :)

It's about finding a way to celebrate the phase of your life where you've met so many responsibilities already, that it's time to have fun. One of their mantras is "Eat dessert first" - and they do. All of their celebrations are purely social and fun. It might be worth checking out their website to see if there's a group near you.

(I know this sounds like an ad, I swear I'm not on commission or anything. lol)

There are other similar groups, but I really think that one is soooo fun. Just a thought...
