Hi MM,
I am sorry that you are having such trouble getting good sleep. It is miserable, I know.
Are you waking up with anxiety? Or jus waking up? Xanax is not meant to be a sleep aid...although it can have a sedative effect.
However, it is probably best to talk with your doctor about a medication for sleep, and save your Xanax for acute panic episodes.
There are also several natural ideas. As far as suppliments go, you could try: Melatonin, Gaba or L-theanine. There is also sound therapy such as Binaural Beats/Brain Waves...an app that you can find on youtube, or any app store that is great for inducing delta waves for a deep sleep.
I wish you the best...try one of these ideas and/or call your doctor, and let us know how you are doing soon.:)
