Just a little funny as a reminder to us all about
the dangers of looking up symptoms online.
A few years back, I had some puzzling symptoms and no health insurance, so I was relying on Dr. Google and WebMD to try and self-diagnose, self-treat.
I can't remember all of the symptoms, I know I was fainting, bruising easily and having nosebleeds.
I went to WebMD and checked off all of my symptoms. You know how it returns the list of possibilities in the order of so-called probability?
It diagnosed me with cocaine abuse! lmbo!
Since I was pretty sure I would have noticed myself abusing cocaine, and the symptoms continued, I finally went to the doctor - I needed vitamins. :-D

Lol!
They don't call you Be 'Rock' for nothing! Hee hee!!
Seriously though, thanks for the reminder. Self diagnosing and symptom searching is never a good idea for us, or way to try to manage our issues.

I have a similar problem. I read medical journal articles about
my particular health concerns, and doing that exacerbates my anxiety about
those concerns. But I find it very hard to get myself to stop doing it. Throughout my life, I have always dealt with concerns and worries by reading and becoming knowledgeable. Sometimes it actually helps. But other times, it backfires.

Dr. Google is not everyone's friend. LOL. Great story, B.

:) Thanks guys!
MedVed - I'm a researcher, too. As a journalist by trade, it's only natural. I've slowly learned that research should be done FOLLOWING diagnosis and not before. It's hard to stick to, but helps keep the anxiety on track a little better. :)
