Here I am with another day and feeling more anxious than before, one part is that today I ll find out about the sex of my baby on the other part is the debate of whether I should take medication or not.

my depression has come back and everyday I feel more sad and lost.,,and even though my dr says its ok to take it...i feel afraid and think that if there s something wrong with my baby I ll be the one to blame...and yet I have been without medication for months now..,unfortunately my stress level has invreased so much lately that I feel like if Im going to explode....what do I do?

You're finding today the sex of your baby? That's so exciting. As for your medication have a frank talk with your doctor about your fears. That's the best person to advise you. Until then focus on the wonderful little life growing inside you. And once you learn the sex some of your anxiety may leave. Try and focus on the positive things going on in your life right now. Not easy I know. But try just for today.

Your OBGYN would never allow you to take anything that would harm your baby. You are now in your second trimester, which is considered safe for taking certain anti-anxiety meds.

Talk with your doctor today and voice your concerns. If you have found that your coping skills are just not getting you through and providing the relief that you need, then see about taking the lightest dose of a med approved during gestation.

Let us know what you find out.;)

cln My eldest Daughter took Her meds for anxiety and depression with all three children, I like the others
do not beleive the doctor would do anything to endanger the Baby, Peace.

It is a girl!!! And yes I talked to my dr and she said its ok for me to take it, my med is effexor 37.5 so I guess I will start taking it, I mean I feel down and I do take therapy but even ahe says that I might need to go back on meds

Congratulations!  That's wonderful news!  (I send you big pink ribbons and balloons of joy!)

I'm glad you had a frank and honest discussion with your doctor.  As everyone else here has commented on, your OBGYN,...this is their job, it's their livelihood, it's what they're trained for, in every aspect,...and they would never tell you to take anything that could harm your little cargo!

PS:  I guess "red" was the closest to "pink" as I could get!  But, you get the idea!

Congrats!
I feel that you have made the right decision to go back on your meds. Your being anxious, stressed and depressed is more likely to affect your baby than the medication. I hope you start feeling better very soon! take care and get some rest! :)

A baby girl - how sweet.  I hope that has put a smile on your face. You did a good thing in talking with your Dr. re your anxiety and starting your meds.  I hope the reassurance you were given lowers your anxiety level and know we are all here to support you.

Oh honey, your moods are going to sway just due to Mother Nature and the changes in your body your precious cargo places on you.

Reminding yourself daily that so much of this is normal, and that you're okay, everything is okay,...is a great place to start each morning you wake up!

It sounds like you are in very good hands.  Trust your doctor, and trust that they have the health and safety of both you and your little girl at the very forefront!

Things will ebb and flow,...and this is natural.  Your body and mind will feel moments of boundless joy and bends of confusion,...and this is natural.  Your doctor is monitoring both of you, and this medication is there to safely guide you on your journey.

Trust in the journey!

Building your support system will help to ease the lonliness that you are going through.

Can you look into joining a mother's group? Or how about looking into a prenatal exercise class where you could meet other mom's to be?

Being a single mom and having anxiety can add up to feeling isolated...but not if you put yourself out there among others, and make efforts to connect with people regularly.

We are here of course...you can post everyday if you like.:) As you can see from your responses, we are all just a little excited for you, Lol!;p...and would love to hear updates anytime on how you and the little one are doing!

Congratulations on your good news...girs rock, and I am sure that you will start to feel better soon since you got the green light on taking your Rx again.

You are not alone - you have this precious little girl growing inside of you. I used to talk to my baby all the time while I was carrying her. Sometimes you can pick a song you like and think that she would like and play it for her everyday. When she is born she will recognize it. When my daughter was carrying my granddaughter, I used to talk to her all the time and when she was born I was in the delivery room, once she was born they took her over to a little bed with a heat lamp and she was kind of fussing. I walked over to where she was and said "Hi little girl, grandma is so excited to see you". Just like that she calmed down as she recognized my voice. When I would stop talking she would sort of look around as if to say, talk to me some more. Babies are God's most precious gift - don't feel alone - bond with your little baby right from now and you will make a wonderful mommy. You will get through these difficult times because you have the best reason in the world to be well for your little one.

S.C. has an excellent idea.  Support groups are amazingly healing, helpful, and they assist in aiding to remind you that it's normal to experience the myriad of things you'll feel along the way.

Other Moms-to-Be also feel anxious and scared.  A community to share can be so healthy and feel-good.

What about things like prenatal yoga?  I'm just trying to think of a few things that are healthy, relaxing, and social.
