Hi BR,
Welcome! Glad that you have found us...although I am sorry it is because your anxiety has kicked into high gear.
I definitely believe there is a hormonal connection going on here! Your body has been through a lot in a short amount of time, and all of the swithcing gears has stirred up the pre-existing, but low levels of anxiety and amped them up.
Give your SSRI med time to build up and level off as the others suggested. It can take up to 12 weeks for some. Also I am going to assume that your doctor put you on a Beta Blocker med? The one he said would help with BP and anxiety? This should also start to help soon.
In the meantime, can I suggest that you try some coping skills to keep your anxiety levels down? Here are some links for some good ideas to start with:

The breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and meditation are very effective if practiced daily...really!
Keep posting here with us as well. We are a close knit group, with much understanding and support, and we welcome you aboard.:)
Looking forward to getting to know you better.:)
