Fear of Dying

I'm going to tell you something very important, "will you pay attention to every word"?

I am a 71 year old man, when I was 58 I had a pretty bad HA, "are you scared enough yet"? Darling what you are feeling is probably gas pains, they hurt the worst, wish I had a dollar for every panic trip i took to ER, so no I will not describe it to you because you and our people would fill the ER's world wide.

"If you can touch where it hurts, forget it, if it's a sharp pain forget it, have you had a well woman with ekg in the last year, forget it". You are a young Mother and you have not ate near enough junk food to be stopped up. "So thank God", and promise to care for the body He has blessed you with. I sincerely Pray that you are really paying attention to this. Peace.

good Girl, don't think you are rare in this situation, I have talked many people down from these pains and fears, I use to have a pain in my left breast that felt like a sword was stuck through me, the problem sometimes is the pain is so sharp it will cause a release of Adrenalin and our heart will take off and this just
adds to the problem, "just remember it will go away and the Adrenalin will burn off" just ride it out, Peace.

I'm sorry I said that, in a way that would make you uncomfortable, If you have any kind of a benzo, this is what
they are for, to kill the panic.

I am so sorry to hear of the fears that you are currently dealing with.

I can be so scary, confusing and exhausting to deal with health anxiety.

Have you talked to your doctor regarding your concerns? If not, that is a great place to start...as at that time, you can discuss treatment options for your issues.

In the meantime, I can recommend going to our Resources here. You will find them on our main page, 1st page. In there you will find all sorts of great self-help ideas.

The breathing and relaxation links are awesome. There are also two books specifiacally for dealing with fear of illness and dying (health anxiety self-help books)

I suffered from HA for so many years, too many years. I don't anymore.

I wish the "me" from today could go back to the "me" of yester-year and affirm that all those fears didn't come true.

Think of how many "health scares" you've had so far that never manifested. Just the fear keeps you on edge.

I was once told by a very good friend: "You are not afraid of dying,....you are afraid of living."

BLAM! Just like that, it did dawn on me,...you know, heck she's right. If I focus enough on dying and health problems, I don't have to go out there and live life and you know,...DO stuff, and BE with people, and generally LIVE life!

Life goes on, it really does!
