Just as optimists believe in good fortune...even when the odds are stacked against them...so we with anxiety are the opposite in our thoughts and perceptions.
...the good news?
We can reverse a lot of our anxiety and symptoms with postive thinking. A lot of it has to do with our mind set! Whether we were born with a certain personality type, that is prone to anxiety/negativity...or whether circumstances triggered this in us, is not always clear...but we do share certain traits...and catastrophic thinking seems to be one of them.
If we can train ourselves to redirect our thinking when it is negative...then we will avoid the 'worst case' and 'what if' thoughts.
Being aware that you are doing it is a good part of the battle...so you have a good start.
Using worksheets like the downloads that we have in our Resources can further help by challenging the negative thoughts, and working toward positive solutions.
Give them a try and see how you do.:)
