swollen bump on lip - :(

I know this is minor but I still worry - I have a swollen part in the middle of my bottom lip and it has a small scab now.  started Tuesday.  I have never gotten cold sores on my lips.  I have on my nose.  well, around Halloween I had 3 of these bumps on my lips.  I am not sure if they are cold sores  they don't look like them. 

what else could this be?  I do bite on my lips but never caused this before.  they just get irritated and maybe have swollen before but not in bumps that got scabs.  it doesn't look bad but I feel like I have a fat lip  ha  which I do have full lips so it makes me self conscious  ha

Hazel,

You did not happen to cut your bottom lip on something?  My cold sores used to always be on my lip and now they present right above the top of my upper lips.

I really do hate these little rascals as they look like a baseball sitting on your lip when in fact, people don't usually even notice.

just with my teeth kitt. ugh I have a bad habit of biting them. in October when I got three of these suckers, somebody at work said maybe I was biting them and ate something spicy and it irritated them. I did eat some spicy tacos then. it's a bad nervous habit of mine. but Tuesday I only had a tomato, mozzarella and pesto sandwich. some salsa though too came with the tortilla chips I got. it's not a crusty yellow sore - just a normal red sore. and doesn't have little bumps within it. weird.
last time the doctor gave me an antiviral that I took for a few days when i called him and they went away but i'm not sure they wouldn't have on their own anyway.

Are they itchy? Do they "weep?"

I get cold sores, and I do agree, they're nasty little buggers.

Most of the foods you mentioned may have been enough to irritate your lip too. Pesto has a sharp oil in it, tomatoes, spicy tacos...all of those, and especially this time of year.

In the winter, my lips get extra dry and I tend to lick them, and they crack even more. A certain spice or acid can be just enough to cause a "blip or two!"
