panic on new medication

hi everyone im new here. i have started medicine for panic disorder and has anyone had panic side effects after only one dose? its effexor 75 mg with time release. i woke up in a panic with cold sweat, tingling, stomach and chest pain and just overall fear. has anyone else ever had that after the first time taking it? thanks everyone

First of a big welcome to the forum you will find good support here from others who can relate to what you are going through. I used to take Effexor and found it to be a good medication unfortunately when you start these type of drugs you can get some side effects all of which you described but with my experiance they do tend to pass after a couple of weeks once you get used to the new medication. Remember I am not a doctor so just giving you my personal experiences so always good to keep in close contact with your doctor.

I hope you start to feel better soon it usually takes anywhere between 6-8 weeks to feel the full benefit of an antidepressant. Keep posting here and let us know how you are doing we are here to help.

Thanks for the reply. Ya its the generic brand for effexor and i talked to my doctor and think maybe it could be too high if a dose to start on. he is prescribing me 37mg now so hopefully it will help me feel better.

I started out at 75mg and am now at 225mg. I think I did have some similar issues when I 1st started it, but it went away in a week or so.
