I don't post here much but I really feel the need to help out anyone I can who struggles with panic attacks/anxiety disorder because I know how hard it truly is.
To make a long story short I've struggled with panic attacks, anxiety and slight depression for about 5 years. I've been to the ER multiple times for panic attacks, tried plenty of antidepressants & medications (which had too many side effects for me), and have seen therapists. Therapy helped for me, but I never felt like I was "normal" again.
Eventually a naturopathic doctor suggested that I try L5HTP. After a few weeks I started noticing some changes. It even helps me sleep because I've always had trouble falling/staying asleep. And after a few months, I have decreased my dose from 100mg to 50mg.
I have really noticed that I don't get "rushes" of panic feeling for no reason. My ability to deal with heights, bridges, airplanes, elevators and everything that I was afraid of has really improved. Basically to an anxiety that any person without anxiety disorder would have.
I used to even just be sitting in a room and "out of nowhere" would feel terrified, like I need to escape. This does not happen anymore. And when I do feel the slightest bit of panic, I am able to brush it off without going into a full blown panic attack.
Just a suggestion for anyone who feels like they have tried everything else, look into it! The side effects are very minimal…it can make you tired so take before bed & not on an empty stomach.
