prozac for the first time today

Hi guys. Im new to this forum. Im also nee to anxiety issues. Recently been given prozac to help me get back to normal. It seems to be making me worse. Took my first tablet and i have woke up in middle of night with adrenaline feeling. Tight chest and light headedness. Also i feel like im not getting enough oxygen. Is this normal from the first try?

Hi Steven and Welcome!

Yes the symptoms you are describing are from the Prozac, it takes approximately 4-8 weeks for your body to adjust to new meds. Is Prozac the only medicine your Dr gave you? The lightheaded will go away, I had that when I started Prozac. When you feel that panicky feeling, try to take some deep breathes to calm yourself down. You will notice every day that the feeling will subside. But you have to give the medicine time to take full effect.
