Hi everyone. I have a question for the women out there. Do you have a copper iud? Did you first notice/see anxiety/panic increase after you got it?

Hello, I remember discussing copper IUDs a couple of weeks ago in another thread  which you were contributing to.  By any chance did you are any of the other members in that thread check with their doctors to see if this is indeed a problem?

I am way to old for an IUD so I am not up to date on all the latest birth control.

I have discussed it with my doctor and it is an unrecognized side effect (read: statistically insignificant), although many women have had this problem occur with the iud. In the 1980's the package insert for the iud stated anxiety as a possible side effect. I am curious as to how many women have have seen this correlation. Just because it is no longer "recognized" as a side effect does not mean that it isn't happening. There could be thousands of women out there that are suffering unnecessarily.

Gigi my Daughter had her's emoved several months ago for this very reason, Peace
Yes it did get better a month after removal.

I had mine removed about 3 weeks ago and I'll keep everyone posted on how I do. I just went out of town for my grandfathers service and that caused so much anxiety so I'm hoping after I get home I'll be able to get a better idea on whether or not there is a difference which I'm praying there is because as of right now there isn't.

In my experience, with other women that I've talked to, it can take some time Melzmoda. Up to a few months to start seeing some improvement. I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather.

I have recently been wondering about this. I have a currently unknown metal allergy. I have had anxiety all my life, but about 6-7 months after iud insertion I had my first full out panic attack and have suffered with them since. Counseling has helped a lot,but I started to consider the relation. I asked my Dr and she didn't see any correlation.

Although increased anxiety can show up spontaneously...it is always good to look for possible triggers like you are.
