My personal $0.02.
I would absolutely, positively not take any so-called weight-loss or metabolic-booster supplements. Frankly, I wouldn't take them ever, in general, but in particular, not while you're on and off various other medications. It could be a toxic cocktail, so best to handle one thing at a time.
Zoloft has worked wonders for many people, but not for all,....as you can see. The med that I'm on, I absolutely love and am grateful for, yet I've read where other people did not like the reactions they had to it.
Everyone reacts differently to medications. There are different types of anxiety and depression,--some of which are situational and temporary,....and some of the more lingering ones, which are generally accepted as being due to a chemical imbalance. The meds,--the right med for you,--helps to achieve that balance. The wrong one can make us feel dreadful.
You hit the nail on the head with how, unfortunately, weight gain seems to be a common side effect reported by many different people, and while on many different medications.
There are a few I tried and I gained weight so fast it didn't seem possible or believable or even logical. I felt like a balloon getting filled up rapidly with high pressure,....something or another!
My history is that of being very active, so weight gain to me was not acceptable,....so I kept pursuing different meds, and even different docs, until I found the right combination,.....for me.
We need to keep in mind we are all created differently, our chemical imbalances are different, and sometimes we produce too much of one thing, not enough of another, or our receptors aren't functioning properly. There are so many variables.
I kept looking because for me, personally, the weight gain (which yes, it was over 40lbs) was not acceptable to me, and hard for me to accept because I work out every single day and have a clean diet.
Lab work came back clean regarding thyroid too....I did the same route.
I'd encourage you very strongly to avoid any and all supplements that are marketed for "weight loss." I'd encourage you to look for other options re: docs and other meds (this is not the only med on the market). You don't have to suffer!
