shaking and anxious

in a little while i will go to the car dealership to test drive a car. i feel really nervous. probably because so much money is involved.

i'm sitting here running various scenarios through my head. things that could go wrong, such as their not having the car i want, or some salesman trying to trick me into paying more.

to make things worse, my sister (who i live with) is giving me advice, which i don't think i need. and is just making me more nervous.

so i have the shakes and am basically chain smoking. i always know something is up when i do that.

anyway please wish me luck and send positive thoughts my way.

Your just like me, I have bought 4 new cars and never test drove either one as my hands were shaking so bad so I had my daughter or husband test drive the cars while I sat in the back seat ! smhair

I bought and paid for the cars and loved everyone.  I drove them all every day and they were all that I had hoped for.  Anxiety sucks, my friend but when you want something bad enough there is a way to get past the anxiety.

(My cars were a red Grand AM Pontiac, a white Pontiac Bonneville, a black Jeep Liberty and my pride and joy that I have now, a white Chevy Equinox tricked out which will most likely be the last new car I ever buy as I am retired.)

There is something special about having a new ride.

Hi display - good luck today, I am sending you good thoughts! know that you will find the right car and the right car will find you when it is time.

I know it is nerve wracking but try to remember that you can take your time, you don't have to be pressured into anything. you can always bring the information home and give yourself time to think it over/compare prices, etc.

i know what you mean about advice/people talking about things making you more nervous.

it went fine. i test drove a 2010 honda accord, which i really liked. the saleslady was nice and overall it was just a really positive experience.

meanwhile my sister, who keeps wanting to give me advice, just keeps butting in on the whole thing. i am trying to think of a nice way of telling her to mind her own business.

i'm so glad it went well for you! i used to have a honda accord and really liked it. was reliable and very safe.

i read something recently that people with anxiety tend to be very nice - and have a hard time telling other people no, or how they really feel because they don't want to be mean, and that holding back like that can lead to anxiety. i can see how this might be true for me sometimes and trying to speak up more to see if it helps but i have a hard time with that.

maybe you could try explaining that you appreciate her help but you just need a break from talking about it, or something like that? i have a brother that is the same way and i find many times he increases my anxiety about things, the way he talks about them.

anyway, glad to hear it went well - good job!

Thank your sister for the input and explain that you have not made a decision at this point.  then purchase whichever car You choose.

As we all know some people love their chevys, some their Fords and millions love their Hondas!  cool
