Today is the day for my CT scan

Today is the day for the CT Scan w dye, I have been up since 4:14AM and have an awful headache. I'm so nervous about the test. I just want today to be over with. I scared what they might find and I'm scared they might not find anything. I'm sure that makes sense to some of you, you want an answer but you don't want anything to be really wrong.

I spoke with my therapist last night and she asked me if the test shows nothing how long will that really make me feel better for? A day, a week, a month, year? I laid in bed thinking about that question. I don't want to feel like this anymore, she's right if it comes out fine how long before the next weird sensation, pain, etc happens before I'm convinced it's something else awful. My plan is to continue to see her and try some meds if the CT Scan comes out ok. I don't want to waste my life worrying about my health anymore. I'm 47, with a beautiful 5 year old and I want to live as long as possible with her and enjoy every day with her. I guess we need to live each day to its fullest, none of us know when we will die and if we did we certainly wouldn't be sitting around worrying how we are going to change it because we cant. We would be enjoying that moment with the people who mean the most to us. So please enjoy your day, your week, your month and your year, and the many years to come and remember we cant worry about the things we cant control.

Thank you everyone for all the kind words, I will let you know the results of the CT Scan as soon as I find out.

Hope everything turns out to be ok so you don't have to worry that much anymore. It's good to have a solid evidence that everything is fine to back-up all your positive thoughts whenever you'll feel odd and get yourself relaxed and calm easily. I had bad health anxiety since February last year and I used to think that I was already going to die each day. A year already passed and I thank God for the extra days He gives me. It's true one shouldn't give up that easily and not waste time on worrying that much. I'm glad that my HA is not that bad anymore since the start of 2014. But I still have my ups and downs until now. But there are brighter days once we start to lessen our fears.

Good luck. Make sure to be honest and tell them you have an anxiety condition. They will likely then sedate you.

Thinking of you and I suspect you are already having your scan. I have had so many and I hope you know that it is quick and painless - the dye is unique but once it is injected you only notice it for 60 seconds. 

I am scheduled for my next scan on May 13 -  I have been trying to invent a new flavor of the  Readi-cat barium drink - My hospital only has banana and berry flavored - how about one flavored like chocolate ???

 

You have a very wise therapist and I like your plan.  My psychiatrist ask me once how much reassurance from my Dr. would be enough?  Sounds like your therapist is on the same tract.

Hi Nik.,

I am sorry that you were up early with anxiety over this test! :( I am sure that I would have been the same way.

Hopefully, now you are done, and recovering.

Lots of emotional energy goes into getting things like this done, so take it easy the rest of the day!

I also like your plan that you and your therapist have come up with. I see your determination to find recovery, and I am confident that you will do well!

Great job on getting through it! Rest up and keep your mind distracted from the 'what-ifs' while waiting for your results.

I am sure that everything will be fine.:)
