Kitt,
My darling little pooch did a sudden bolt at, of course, the most inconvenient of times....as I was trying to finagle the two of us through the little narrow passage of space allowed as one tries to get through one of those wide metal gates chained close to keep people off the private land?
The land which surrounds pretty much both sides of the dead end street we live on, and all the way around the lake at the end, is privately owned.....by one family. Well, one woman really. Our neighbour across the street. From our house, and her house across the street, there are 2 houses on our side, 2 houses on her side, and other than us, those houses belong to her relatives.
It's perfect for us because we are such private people,...to live on a dead end road, with any potential access gates chained shut with lots of "No Trespassing" signs....but when she and her son met us, we evidently got the "Seal of Approval" and are given full access to all the acreage and lake.
So where was I going with this? Well, see all that emphasis I made on "privacy?" For this reason, it's rare to run into anyone (unless they're family, which we'd usually hear, or if they've got the horses out, which again I'd hear)....I didn't take a good enough look and a woman (whom I did not recognize) was walking (quietly) a small dog (like the size of a Pomeranian?).... The dog looked happy and friendly, but the lady looked like a mean ole coot.
Regardless, if I had let go of the leash (which I know, makes the most sense when it comes to protecting my already quite beat up body), I dread to think that Grizzly (my dog) would have gone after the little Pommy-type doglet,....even if to play, there could have been injuries (read that to mean: potential and costly law suits which may sadly result in wishes for me to make Grizzly no longer a part of the living).
Just in the back yard, yes, I'd let go. In this case, my fear of retaliation and danger took over.
You know how the bruises don't usually look all that bad when you first get 'em? Man, aint that the truth! I've got 'em ranging from magenta to violet to purple to yellow and a few that look maroon smeared with black eye shadow!
At first I felt haughty, self-righteous, and angry that as my barking dog headed her way, dragging me along what is quite literally, water running over muddy rocks and gravel....she just stood and watched and did not even pick her (very small) dog up, just out of courtesy? Or out of protection of her own dog?
But....it was my fault, and I had to suck it up.
Your post is truer than true, my dear, because I actually do wear pantaloons, sleeve garters, aprons, dusting powder, tulle,....and yet, I'm one of the least "feminine" gals I know! I'm one of them thar, you know, enigma type thingies!
I'm getting worried about my skin now because I worshiped to a deadly degree, baking and frying in the sun, and I've got questionable "aspects" appearing now. So I'm thankful for anything that helps!
I'm glad you guys liked the cards and that they made you smile! Mission accomplished!
M.
