Is Amitriptyline good for sleep?

Im really tired cause i havent slept properly in a few nights and im freakin out in case i cant sleep again tonight.
A friend of a friend gave me a pill and said that it should work its 25 mg Amitriptyline and i was wondering has anybody any experience with them?

Hi ES.,

We can't recommend ever taking anyone else's Rx.

You can find some good OTC sleep aids to get you through until you can talk to your doctor about a presciption med for sleep if you feel you need it.

Nyquil has as new sleep formula that I believe is gentle and effective.
