Hi! I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm doing this right.
I've had Lyme disease for 11 years and have gone through the "all in your head" and "drug seeker" gauntlet for many years. I'm not taken seriously, and have had many, many serious pain events that were never addressed because of the "faker" status in my medical records.
Anyway, that sets the background about
me!
I suffer from PTSD as a result of pain management neglect. I am TERRIFIED of pain. Unfortunately, I have balance issues and about
five days ago I fell down on a hardwood floor really hard on my left hip. Since then, I've had severe, unrelenting pain that extends from my back and around to my left buttock, hip, groin, left thigh and knee. I've been icing and elevating my leg with no success. I've tried Advil, the narcotic Nucynta, Aspercream, lidocaine patches - nothing works! I went to the ER reluctantly two days ago and found out at least I have no broken bones, but they didn't take my pain seriously after they saw no broken bones. They allowed me to gasp, cry, and scream and thought it was all for drug-seeking. I am so disappointed. Currently I have no insurance because my husband was laid off last month. Otherwise, I'd be running to my doctor who I'm sure would get me an MRI and send me to pain management, PT, etc.
I'm on disability and Social Security but they are very slow to get me on Medicare health insurance.
My question is, has anyone else experienced severe pain on the left part of their body after a fall? How long did it take for you to recover? Do you have residual pain? This is stressing me out and I just want to know what to do at home while I wait for my insurance. And even if you haven't had this particular chronic pain, how do you cope with the loneliness? No one can relate so even my family is backing away.
Thanks so much for reading this long note!
