I am really scared right now!It all started about a month ago when i got this corn on my left foot. about a week later i noticed this green spot on my right foot (dark bluish green small spot which was elevated a little , the color was kind of like the color of the dirt in our nails) i didnt pay much attention to that as the corn was my major concern. The green spot did not even pain or bother me in any way. Yesterday i decide to take out the corn once and for all but before that i decided to take out the green spot which was now a bit bigger and red which i think was due to some scratching which i had done earlier in an attempt to take it off more over i also found another small green spot emerging next to it. After an unsuccessful attempt on trying to clip it off with a nail cutter it just became more red , bluish black and disfigured. I got scared and googled the "green spot" only to find that the answer as melanoma. Instantly i went to a doctor (physician/internal medicine) . i showed her my feet right away (right foot first, with the green spot) and told her that i thought that it was a corn to avoid any sort of embarrassment of my anxiety and then i told her that it was green first. i showed her my other leg too. She flashed a light on the green spot and concluded that it was a corn . I suddenly realized what i saw on the net that doctors make mistakes on their diagnosis of melanoma ( mistaking them to be corns ) but i didnt say anything. She told me to put corn caps on both my legs which i did. After sometime of putting the corn caps , last evening i could feel a tingling sensation on the green spot. Today it started burning and there ws a sensation of itchiness. I am really scared and dont know what to do. I also have a loss of appetite

Hi goal21 and welcome.

I am sorry that you are currently dealing with these worries.:( I know how that feels, and it is no fun.

Have you had similar concerns regarding your health in the past? If so...how did that turn out in the end?

Many times we catastrophize little things that turn out to be nothing of concern.

The web and google searches for health issues are both wonderful, and horrible! Bad in the sense that it can scare us with the information that we read about...that in most cases is completely unrelated to our circumstances.

Try to trust your doctor in what she told you, and go the course with your treatment.

If after the treatment things are still concerning you, then follow up with a dermatologist...but until then, you have been given a dx of a corn...nothing more.:)

I'm with S.C. on this one. It's pretty easy for us to be so hyper-focused on new symptoms that every sensation feels heightened.

Staying in touch with your PCP and as S.C. mentioned, a dermatologist, should you have lingering concerns.

Get to a good dermatologist NOW!!!!!
Ask them to do a biopsy. That will tell you what it is. I know fear, and I don't want fear to control your life. Take one day at a time.
2015 I went for a walk, got a blister and when it peeled off a grey/black spot was there. Yes it was a melanoma. I had 2 surgeries, the last one to graft skin to my heel. I am still here in this world. Be sure you get a 2nd opinion. I hope it is nothing but want you to be proactive about your health. You deserve the best life has to offer. Moosie88

Yeah I would go to another doctor for a second opinion.

Generally, when we get a skin growth - what we want to watch out for is color and shape. You want to watch out for anything discolored (green, grey, black, etc.) and if it is not a circle and an irregular shape, this can indicate a melanoma.

It is also possible it could be a corn, wart, or other type of HPV-related skin growth, but I worry about the green coloration. I would worry that whatever this is, actually has dying tissue around it and could be getting gangrene.

Please get it checked out again ASAP.
