Prozac 5 mg weird side effects

I don't know if I'm just exaggerating because I've only been on prozac 5 mg for 3 days. However, today when I started walked , I felt weird. It's hard to explain. It's like I couldn't catch my breath and my heart beat started feeling irregular. Never felt like that before. Is it even possible to have side effects only being on 5 mg for 3 days?

Hi Sarah,

It can be hard to tell between side effects and anxiety symptoms. Since starting an SSRI can increase anxiety initially...this could have been panic related.

However, to be on the safe side, I would call your prescribing doctor and tell of your experience, just to rule out an adverse reaction.

Thanks for the response. Is shortness of breath, irregular heartbeat and feeling of throat tightening regular anxiety symptoms?

Yes, it certainly can be for many people...I have experienced all of these at some point

...but the more important question is...is this new for you?

Any new or worsening symptom should be run by your doctor.
