Saw the p doc. He wants me to increase my lexapro to 30mg.

So I saw my psychiatrist today and explained my situation with not responding to my 20mg of lexapro. He was not concerned in the least and told me that it is perfectly fine to increase to 30. He also wanted me to take klonopin regularly every am and PM for the next week and I'm to see him again next week. He said that 30mg of lexapro is really common and not to worry about it. I cried my eyes out and he was very helpful and told me ( assured me that I will be better. I'm so glad he will take me as a patient. I must admit that I am a little reluctant to increase but I suppose it can't hurt. Just scared really. He said I've been on this med for 11 weeks now and that I shouldn't give up on it just yet. I'm a fighter and I'd hate to give up if relief is just around the corner. He also said that I have not been on the therapeutic dose long enough to judge. I suppose I'm one of those people that take a long time to respond to meds so we shall see. Just updating and love the support!

I don't know if you've read any of my posts lately but I'm going through a lot of what you are, I started Lexapro 10 in April or May I think, and then my doc upped it to 20 on the 10th. I feel like I'm reacting negatively to it.

The worst part about AD meds is they can make you feel worse when you start or change them, and for anxiety / panic sufferers we don't like hearing "Wait 4-6 weeks".

I don't want to wait either!

You are definitely a fighter...and I commend you on your patience and for trusting your doctor and willingness to keep going for the time being.

You will never know just how this Rx is ultimately going to work for you until you see it through. It very well could be that 30mg is your theraputic range...so good job...you will either end up with a great med for you, or at least know you gave it a full chance.
