Having anxiety about taking buspar!

I've taken it many times. It never helped unless I combined it with and antidepressant. It did make me a bit dizzy when I first started it but it passed soon. Take it, the anxiety is much worse than the medication side effects.

I tried it back in 2007. My family doctor prescribed this and I was in a high panic mode..It did absolutely nothing for me..I actually got worse..Went back to Dr. and his partner put me on Lexapro.. I stayed on Lex for 7 years and weaned off myself. I was fine until health triggerd a major panic episode and I could not sleep. I'm back on 20mg and happy I am.. Finally can enjoy my life..I wish you the best. We are all different but I agree with you not hearing much about Buspar.

From what I understand, the possible side effects from a Buspar/anxiolytic psychotropic meds can generally be milder and less common that those reactions from SSRI's. 

I think your main concern might be some drowsiness, so taking it in the evening might be a good move.

I hope that you can make a decision and be at peace with it. It it a personal choice and one that only you can make for yourself. We support you in whatever you decide
