My frank and honest opinion?
You did outstanding!! For me, one of the things I would look for in an employee is exactly the skill you demonstrated. You did the right thing.
Your qualities: (1) You weathered the storm of management changes, (2) you maintained true to your job as it pertains to the company, regardless of those changes, (3) you conducted yourself in a professional and courteous manner despite being put on the spot, (4) you refused to engage in public debate in front of others when you knew this was a matter best discussed in private, (5) you maintained your professional attitude, (6) you did not make a scene, but that other person did, (7) you're aware enough to realize the company's changing objectives no longer coincide with your own, (8) you're being proactive by immediately looking on Monster.com for another position....
.....(9) you're immediately updating your resume, (10) you're not taking this personally as you realize, as the sole survivor of the initiative of this company, that it's actually the others who have gone off the rails, (11) you recognized that it's okay to take a Xanax and deep breaths and collect yourself, and did not deny yourself this, (12) you took that conversation behind closed doors which is where it belonged, but only you were the "bigger person" who realized that, as discretion, confidence and professionalism are rare and valuable qualities in ANY employee in ANY company,.....
.....(13) you're investigating other job opportunities that may not pay as much, but where your mind may be free enough to be more creative and where your stress levels may be radically reduced, (14) you're again being proactive by realizing you need to get out of the situation as you cannot change the company, but you CAN change yourself and your situation...
You know Toots, I really could go on.....but I think you get the picture? Got it? Got it? Good! :)
I'm very proud of you!
