Sertraline and aches

Hi - just joined the forum. Looks like a lot of information out here! I've been on sertraline for six weeks - I cut a 25 milligram in half. I feel it's all I need. I'm calmer. However two weeks ago, I picked up a nasty bug and had diarrhea for 10 straight days - TMI, I know. Did go to doctor..

Anyway, my stomach felt so bad i didn't take the sertraline for two days. Then I got a headache, so I took 1/4 for two days. Then then I got these horrible muscle pains. So I upped it back to 1/2 for the last two days. I'm still experiencing the muscle discomfort. Motrin helps. But, I'm getting concerned.

Has anyone had these? I'm thinking of getting of this now. I'm not too far in. I read someone used Benadryl to get off the Zoloft. I would be interested in more information on this.

Hi diherbs and welcome.

I am sorry to hear about your illness and subsequent trouble/confusion with your Rx.

What does your doctor have to say about this?

Often if dosage of a med has been varied, as you have experienced....the side effects can start to be noted, where maybe there were none previously.

I would advise talking with your prescribing doctor before making any decisions one way or the other.

If He/she thinks this is a temporary side effect, then you can be advised how best to proceed and manage the issue.

If you decide that you truly do want to wean, then you can do so safely with the guidance of your doctor.;)
