Good morning,
I just stepped up from the initial 25mg of generic Zoloft to 50 mg with Ativan as needed (taking 0.5 twice a day and 1mg at night). Will any side effects increase too?

I was lucky the first week on 25, besides a little more anxiety and fatigue, I didn't have bad s/e. But I took my first full dose last night, slept for 12 hours, was awake for an hour this morning before I needed a 2 hour nap. And I'm still a little foggy.

I also get emotional (cry) easier but I don't think that's the meds, just the stress of the last few months.

Anyway, thanks for any ideas and thanks for letting me be a part of this supportive community.

Hi Sara,

It's possible that while the increased dosage may temporarily aggravate your symptoms, most of the time we find that they tend to pass. Feeling groggy and sleepy tends to be one of the more reported s/e's. So you're in good company!

It also sounds like you're doing a good job of compartmentalizing the differences between what may be a s/e and what may be circumstantial, and that's a huge benefit!

All these meds take some getting used to....

Merrida is right on - any time we increase a dose of our med we may have some of the same side effects as when we started the med but usually it only lasts for a short time as you have the medication in your system.

You are doing a splendid job of dealing with everything and accepting that medications can be the right way to go.  I have been on meds for years.
