Anyone else experience headaches on Lexapro?

Tomorrow will be two weeks that I will have been on lexapro. I've pretty much had a headache the entire time. They're kinda like a squeezing, pressure-like headache and are also accompanied by a burning sensation in my head. They don't hurt that bed or keep me from my daily activities.....but they're very annoying and also get my anxiety heightened because I get scared that something is wrong.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this side effect? I also take xanax as needed.

hi and welcome .... im on zoloft 25mg since june 28th , 2014 after going through a battle almost two years im finally on something and yes i feel exactly how you feel , my head has been hurting everyday , but the thing is last year in july the headaches started out of no where i was not on meds but battling anxiety pretty bad , i had an eeg , ct scan and mri , they say its all my anxiety and i should try meds , i fought not taking meds for a long time , if my chest is not hurting then its my head or other things , after like 9 months my headaches went away , i was put on iron pills because my counts was low , so they said that could cause headaches as well , but them a few days before i started the zoloft the headaches started coming back and its been everyday even while im on the zoloft ..... so it may the the anxiety plus the meds .... i wish you well ... its a battle and i will keep you in prayer ...

Thanks for replying. It's terrible because I'm trying to take something to help my health anxiety......but it's causing side effects that is worsening my anxiety.

Hope the Zoloft works for you. I was terrified to start the lexapro because I had a horrible experience with Paxil in June.

i know the feeling , i been dealing with this since aug 2012 and i tried different meds , never stayed on anything longer then a week , now this is the longest i been on anything and now im still not better ... uhhhhhh its a battle .... trust me i know

Have you spoken to your doc about these headaches? Sometimes they're a s/e of starting up a new med. And yep, I'll add my name to the list (not Lexapro in particular, never tried that) but I've ended up with headaches from taking other meds,....as well as getting headaches when I d/c various meds.

In some cases, perhaps your doc and rx something for you to get through this period and give you a break from at least this particular aspect? Worth a mention!

Oh yeah! I had headaches the first two weeks using Escitalopram (generic lexapro) Headaches were like you described on and off.

Hang in there! Do mention this to your doc though.. It will get better!

I've have on again off again headaches with Lexapro, especially after waking up. Regarding Teachers comment I also had a terrible reaction to paxil, but didn't have that reaction to Lexapro.

I still have headaches from time to time, and have been on lexapro I think over 4 months now.

I had to quit Lexapro because the headaches were so bad. Maybe you should switch to something else, I had to.

I am seeing my doctor tomorrow so I will definitely talk with her about this.
