Hi Has everyone else have this done. My doctor swab my cheek and sent it out to be tested. They can tell you which antidepressants and antipsychotics drugs your body can handle and which ones to use with caution and some with increased caution and frequent monitoring. The test is thru a place called genesight/assurex health. Its funny because I have tried Celexa/Lexapro/wellbutrin/Cymbalta/paxil/Zoloft and all of these came up on my use with caution list. The only one I recognize that came up on my use as directed list is Prozac which I haven't tried. I just find it interesting that the test shows how your liver would tolerate the meds. Just wondering if anyone else has had this done???

Nik.,
No I have NOT heard of this...
...and if it is something reliable, and available to anyone wishing to get on a new Rx without so much guess work...then HOORAY!!
I hope that this is a great step towards you getting the right med for you!
Thanks for letting us know about
this! I am going to do a little research on availability/reliability, ect...

I just checked them out...and it looks like an amazing resource!
Of course, it could come down to whether your physician/insurance absorbs the cost. It may be prohibitive to pay for this out of pocket otherwise?
...but definitely worth looking into!
Here is the link:

Thanks again for the info Nik!

This might seem odd to some, but im really leery of swab tests of any sort. Unless they could guarantee who and what gets my info, I wont do it. HIPPA or not, ill protect my DNA info as much as I can. Not much I can do with standard bloods, but swabs are out of the question for me.

I have never had a swab test, but I did have to spit in a vial and I had to keep spitting(sorry for the grossness) until I reached a certain level on the vial, I still don't know exactly what that was for, I believe it was something very similar, or maybe not it sure hasn't helped my doctor with medicating me.

Your welcome SC, and as far as the swab test. I didn't care if it helps me from trying all these meds and being sick on them. Some can actually destroy your liver if its the wrong med for you. What a wonderful thing if we could narrow it down and get it right the first time. The most important thing is to get the help we need. Wishing everyone a stress free anxiety free day.

Now that I am thinking about
it, is seems like my test was to see how your body metabolizes medication, I need to ask Thursday when I see my doctors, its been almost 2 years haven't got the results back yet(or heard the results)
