I cannot work outside the house because of my anxiety. I was just wondering who else stays home.

I do, last year I worked for about
5 months and the anxiety became so bad that I had to quit, that was the last job I've had in over 7 years, the job I had over 7 years ago I worked there for 5 years and had to quit when my anxiety became so bad.

I tried for disability years ago when I first stopped working, because I made good money I would have had a pretty good amount of money a month if I were approved, but I was denied, and I was SO stupid that I didn't appeal it.
Now that I haven't worked for so many years straight, I can't qualify for disability, I could possibly try for SSI, and I have been debating that.
I know my denial for SSDI only took a matter of months.
Do you mind me asking how long you have been trying, and were you ever denied?

I have tried twice and its because of my short work record. Well my short work record is because of my anxiety.

You can qualify for SSI without a work record, but you would have to be below a certain income level.
My son gets SSI for a disability, and I was working and he still received it, some months it was less depending on how many weeks I got paid in that month, but it was helpful.
Are you doing it on your own, or did you hire a lawyer? I think you can only try 3 times?

I got laid off in March, got called back in July, 2 weeks later I am off on medical. But I got a letter in the mail im getting laid off again this friday. But because of union contract, they cant lay me off while im on medical. Sooo...long story short, I go back to the doc on the 4th, then im officially laid off, again! And I only have 2 months worth of unemployment compensation, then thats it. No money coming into a one paycheck household. One good thing...when I do get laid off, I get an automatic 3 months worth of insurance paid, which starts at the end of the month you were laid off. SO im covered insurance wise 'til New Years.
My stomach issues seem to be progressing, so I have my fingers crossed and say prayers nightly that the stomach eases up enough to be able to work full time, and that I can actually find work making over $24/hr 'til November. Or...im screwed.
Might have to find me a hot mamma on food stamps and housing to shack up with if the job hunt dont pan out....lol.....jk!!! Seriously, its rough for a lot of folks these days, medical issues or not. God bless you all, and hope things work out for ya's.

Glad you got a kick out of it. I try to throw a joke in a time or 2. I like to see people smile, and it sure lightens the mood most days.

If things get too tough for you, in our area, we have "back page" where you can basically place yourself up for sale, so keep that thong handy. Just a thought, do men wear thongs, or g-strings or now is it what ever is most comfy?

Nothing like a man in a speedo, and preferably two sizes too small and tons of back hair.

Hi there, I read a bit on a few threads regarding SSI and thought I'd add my 2cents worth. I have an 18 yr old who was born with a heart condition that was denied SSI. He doesn't qualify for reg SS of course since no work history but in the meantime, we waited 3 months to be told he 'doesn't qualify' which is a mixed message in itself since his condition is listed in the 'blue book' under the A (adult) list. In any case, were luckily w/in the 60 day window to appeal so plan to do so and seeking an attorney if need be but if not will still appeal it nonetheless. I'm finding statistics that say 85% of the disability cases are denied 1st and 2nd times with the stats increasing in the 2nd round, despite the case being reviewed by another case worker and not the initial one that denied it. All this to say not all hope is lost and research your state agencies that may be able to assist or even your local churches. Resources are everywhere so long as you know where to look and get connected with those that 'want to' help. Take care and God bless guys, and as Scaredy Cat mentioned, keep it clean folks:).

My sons condition was so rare, that it would have been incredibly hard to deny him, that being said his worker at the time said that people even with cancer are denied, which I thought was absurd.
It is true most people are denied their first go around, I had a neighbor that wasn't approved till his third attempt
(which took 10 years), but it was retroactive from the day he applied.
I have thought about
applying again, but I would not qualify for disability because I haven't worked for the required amount of time, when I applied the first time I did, but should have appealed but did not know to do so. If I were to apply now I could possibly be approved for SSI, but not even sure about
that.
