Hi Bakomom,
I know there's not much I can say to talk you out of this, because I have been in that same emotional state, SO MANY TIMES! :) I used to have everyone who walked in the door use hand sanitizer. If they wanted to be near my kids, I had them wash their hands. I even kept face masks on hand for visitors to use who had been around anyone sick in the past few weeks. Lol, SERIOUSLY.
So I feel for you for what you're going through. Sounds like you're pretty upset about this right now, and getting sick is a scary thing! The only thing that eventually made me feel better about sickness is that we have been blessed with a society that has great medical advances.
My therapist and I had a LONG string of sessions in which I finally realized that even if my kids and I were to get sick (and we have), it is not likely going to lead to death. We will all be uncomfortable and feel icky for a while, but the probability is that at the end of that sick time, life will resume as normal. The doctor's and hospitals can also help with the symptoms: nausea medicine for the nausea, pain medicine for the aches, and saline for the dehydration.
It's so sad that sickness is a part of life, but it is great that there are medical advances to help us all through.
