yesterday i made myself almost sick over a training on doing a new report. my boss, who is training me, went so fast through the steps, it was impossible to keep up. in any case, i had therapy last night and my therapist and i decided i needed to ask my boss to slow down.
so that is what i will do today, and write down the formulas for each step. i hope i don't chicken out. i need to be strong and speak up about
what i need. so that it what i am praying for and thinking about
this morning.
i would appreciate any words or thoughts of positive support.
thanks for listening,
love, rich

rich, one way to help fight your anxiety is to help others, I never see you answer any posts on here. It really helps me to help others by changing your mind set.

Hi Rich
How did you make out when you presented your request to your boss about
slowing down? Hope everything worked out for you! Please let us know.

Hi Rich, I hope it's all working out for you! A year ago I started THE job from hell. Busy frantic pace with slap dash training at best. I did leave that job and started a new one recently. The place too is busy, amd my new boss is nice but can be a bit rushed in her training. But timid old me has found her voice and I speak up!!! I'm professional and nice about
it BUT I will tell her that she needs to slow down, let me take notes and that I may her further questions as I'm learning. I think we're sometimes afraid to speak up because we're afraid it might reflect poorly on us. Like they may think we're not learning fast enough. But I've honestly found that that is not really the case. My boss has been very receptive to my questions. And just a very small amount of that 'extra slowed down training' has made a huge difference on learning the job, not too mention reduce some of my stress! Be your own advocate and speak up! Best of luck to you!!

I teach at a middle school. As a teacher , we are told to be patient and to encourage the students to ask questions and let us know if we are going too fast. As adults, it shouldn't be any different. Just because it is your boss, he/she is also being a teacher and needs to give you a chance to be a good student. So speak up, take notes and learn at your pace. You will be a better employee in the long run.
