Panic Attack and Cookie Toss....in therapy

Yes, boys and girls, these things evidently really do happen. And of course, I'm the poster child for oddities.

I still like my therapist a lot, and he prepared me for stuff like this happening as we begin to uncover trauma, etc.

I guess I didn't expect to have quite *this* response. I'm always early to appts and milk 'em for every minute I can get.

Today I left mid-way to "use the bathroom" and urgently requested we cease our session 15 minutes before my scheduled end time.

So exqueeze me ladies and gentlemen, but I'm still feeling kind of,....yucky and such. I'll check back in with everyone in a few.

Bah.

Oh No!!

Well, these physio-emotional responses surely mean that a lot of things that needed to come to the surface and get out are...

...both metaphorically speaking...and, er, literally.;/

I am sorry that you are not feeling well...but proud of you for the work you are doing and the progress you have already made!

Ahh, I did even better than that! I got to flush it!

Haha....thanks for that Vickie! I needed that.

We discussed how talking about traumas can "bring up" a variety of symptoms....and yeah S.C....literally, eh?

So it isn't like I wasn't warned.

I was just surprised (as was he) how quickly my affect changed when on topic...

I'm still sort of coming down from it, but I do feel like I'm doing the right thing.



I guess this goes in my book of "First Ever" list....

Hugs to you! Hope you've settled down by now. You're not the first or the last, to toss cookies in a session. Thank God you made it to the toilet and thank God it wasn't from the other end.

Good analogy Lar.....because I was thinking about how a tiny piece of me wanted to run away (I mean, I sort of did, but the most important part is that I'm seeing him again tomorrow morning).... And that's exactly what I was thinking of.

Even though pushing through this is bringing up (uhhm) icky stuff,...I'm making the conscious choice to muster through and conquer.

The orders are in, and I'm advancing....albeit in new territory!

This story reminds me of myself nearly 36 years ago when I was suffering with chronic anxiety caused diarrhea. A therapist asked me since you allow everyone to make you eat crap how else did you think you would get rid of it?

I had therapy this morning and had a totally AWESOME session!!

And yes, we *did* discuss what brought everything up,...literally!

We shared the power of coping skills, but he reminded me that this is *my* time to do with as I need to, and if I needed to....bail,...well, so be it. The point is, we pick up and learn and move on.

I'm learning sooooo much from this guy.

Today we discussed "complex traumas" (because you know me, I just have to go for broke, right?)

I like this one. He's a keeper! :)

sad sad I thought i was alone in this battle,,weird but now i got relief ..sorry ~i really belong in this HW family smilewinkgrin smilewinkgrin
