So.....this morning I woke up at 5am with my heart racing, noting unusual. I also notice my sheets and pillows were all over the place so I'm guessing I didn't have the best nights sleep. I have issues staying asleep, I awake all the time in the night with a racing heart, rarely I remember a bad dream, but most of the time I don't have a reason why. Many here have suggested night anxiety.
Anyway within a few minutes of waking up I noticed by left leg felt weird (heavy, weak, tingly). I felt strange, dazed, headache, lack of focus/concentration. I also had some tingling in my left arm but mostly from the elbow down (I have carpel tunnel symptoms). I took my dog for a walk (about 1.25 miles) and half way in I felt confused, dazed, could not think or focus, headache, I almost didn't feel like myself at all. I'm not even sure how to explain or describe it to be honest. This was off and on for about 1-2 hours. However I didn't feel like I was anxious or having a panic attack. I was certainly thinking about it but not what I would usually identify as anxiety / panic. I checked my blood pressure when I got back from walking the dog, it was 119/70 at 60 BPM. I checked it an hour later and it was similar.
I made the mistake of googling and of course the first thing that came up some stroke / mini-stroke. I find that highly unlikely given that I'm 26, no family history of stroke, and my blood pressure is normal, although I had high blood pressure for about 1.5 years.
Anyway could these symptoms be related to anxiety? I've read where people have had anxiety symptoms with and without feeling anxious and/or having a panic attack. I guess I'm a little confused on what exactly anxiety is, is it both conscious and subconscious? Can you have physical anxiety symptoms without a full blown panic attack?
I've had virtually ever test on my heart under the sun and a cardiologist said my heart was healthy and he thought GERD and Anxiety were the more likely culprits. However he did order an event monitor which I am currently wearing to rule out an arrhythmia however its borderline worthless at night because the cables get disconnected in the middle of the night, probably from me tossing and turning.
