Hi all,
I am having tough time with sleeping pill as I wanna reduce my dosage because of terrible headaches,foggy next day ,sleepy too much next day troubles,but i can't seem to fall asleep faster with this lower dosage .

Any insights

What other alternatives have you tried?

Melatonin? Sound wave therapy? Short acting sleeping pill?

Hi S.C,

Over the counter sleeping medication but it fails since i am on rx one.

SCARED of melatonin -messes with hormones ~

When I was having a hard time getting to sleep I used to listen to guided meditations on YouTube. Is make sure it was at least an hour long and most times Id be asleep by the end. But it only helped me to get asleep, not stay asleep.
Also, I take magnesium and calcium (or a tall glass of milk) right before I go to bed. Makes me super sleepy.
I hope your sleep starts to improve Cilly:)

You can talk to your dr. about a short acting sleeping pill. They last for about 3-4 hrs typically, so you don't end up with the hangover effect the next day.

If you took it when going to sleep...it may be enough carry you through...then the med would be well clear of your system by morning, so you'd be more alert.

Sound wave therapy acts on Theta/Delta brain waves, the ones associated with relaxation and deep sleep. If you are interested in trying it, I will post a link at your request.:)

Just to share my personal experience with this. I also have had bouts of insomnia (mostly due to anxiety). In the beginning, ativan was a Godsend. It worked, and it worked good! I only took it for a few weeks and I was switched to seroquel.

Seroquel has also been a great fit for me. I take a very small dose and it knocks me out!

I have also tried "meditation and sleeping music" from YouTube. Worked like a charm. I would definitely recommend!

Keep trying and "tweaking" the doses on your meds until you get it right!

My Gyn prescribed me the short acting sleep aid SC spoke of when I was being awakened with hot flashes that would then start a worry cycle, Forget the name. Also used Lunesta when my RA was at its peak and could not sleep from pain. I was told it was the least addictive and had the least side effects.
I often take benedryl now an hr. before bed which eases allergy symptoms as well as inducing a peaceful sleep without grogginess in the AM

I would try LUNESTA as having pain problems lately a lot.

Hi Cilly! Sorry you are experiencing problems with your sleeping pill. Maybe you should consider trying different meds till you find the right one that gives you the desired results. Speak to your doc. He can advise you best. Good luck.
